Valero’s Ahead-of-Schedule Milestone

Valero Energy announced that production of sustainable aviation fuel at the Diamond Green Diesel plant in Port Arthur, Texas, is set to commence in Q4, ahead of the target year of 2025. The company anticipates strong interest that may surpass the project’s capacity, as reported by Dow Jones.

Strategic Collaboration

Valero, in partnership with Darling Ingredients, will have the flexibility to convert up to half of the plant’s 470 million gallons per year capacity to sustainable aviation fuel, providing a significant step towards a greener future energy landscape.

Expanding Export Opportunities

Valero foresees a rise in fuel exports to Mexico with the operationalization of a new import terminal in the port of Altamira. The company is currently exporting around 100,000 barrels per day of gasoline and diesel to Mexico, with expectations of sustained demand in the region.

Operational Efficiencies and Market News

The company is striving to achieve up to 95% utilization of its refineries’ total combined throughput capacity of 3.2 million barrels per day in Q2. Valero is focusing on maximizing the efficiency of its seven U.S. Gulf coast refineries by running them at 99% of their combined 1.9 million barrels per day throughput capacity.
